PG Gland / Nylon Cable Gland / Plastic Cable Gland Grey
When electrical cables or wires enter electrical equipment or enclosures, a nylon cable gland, also known as a nylon cable connector or cable gland, is a device used to secure and protect the cables or wires. It is frequently utilized in many different industries, including manufacturing, electrical, and telecommunications.
Nylon or other strong polymers are commonly used to make nylon cable glands. They are made up of a compression seal or insert and a threaded body with a sealing nut. When the sealing nut is tightened, the seal around the cable is compressed, creating a safe and watertight connection. The cable is then inserted through the gland.
A nylon cable gland's main function is to relieve strain on the cable by preventing tension or tugging on it and shielding it from harm from vibrations, movement, or the environment. Additionally, cable glands provide some ingress protection by obstructing the passage of impurities like dust, moisture, or other pollutants into the enclosure or piece of equipment.
