Tap Set NPT Thread High Speed Steel
A tap and die set is a two-in-one instrument for cutting threads around holes and into threads. The tap is used to cut threads in holes where thread fasteners are positioned, while the die is used to cut threads on steel rods. When used with an external NPT threaded part, NPT taps generate threads that do not require sealant. Pipe joint compounds (sometimes called pipe sealant) are used to seal tightly threaded pipe fittings and prevent leaks from forming along the thread.
