Important characteristics of analog earth testers
Principle of Operation:
- DC Generator: The measuring electrodes get a DC current from the tester.
- Potential Difference Measurement: To determine the earth resistance, the potential difference between the electrodes is measured.
- Potential and current coils are used to measure the voltage drop across the earth and the current that flows through it, respectively. The resistance is determined by the ratio of these variables.
Analog Screen:
- Pointer Movement: The resistance being measured is reflected in the analog display's pointer's inclination.
- Basic Interface: Usually consisting of a few knobs and a clear display, analog testers feature a basic interface.
